ps2 drive doesn't spin??

hi, i have a ps2 version 9, and i changed the motor and all that junk and i still get the same result. i checked the fuse PS12 and my reading was normal, but i do not get a value for ps13. i dont know where to go with this and any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

PS13 should be 0.4A.
Check the end of the ribbon cable very carefully for bended pins.

i have some bended pins, but it worked on the other ps2, and arent bent enough to cause a problem. is there any way to check the amperage with a multimeter without sending power to it?? can it be the LA or LB chip that is the problem?? thanks.

No, you can't measure current without power.
It might be the the LB chip.

What worked in the other ps2, the complete drive or just the motor?

both. i just replaced the la chip with a clone and i get the same result...im going crazy here. i spent 45 shipped on this piece of shit...if its the lb chip, whats the best way to remove it from a dead mobo and put it into my current mobo?? thanks.

The LA chip is just for tracking and focusing the laser.
I guess you can remove the LB chip in the same way you removed the LA chip.
You should use a special SMD rework bit on your soldering iron, so that all the pins are heated at the same time and you can remove it easily.
For resoldering it into your current mobo you should use a very small bit, something like 0,1 mm.

are those smd rework bits expensive? would it be worth my time to fix this thing, in your opinion?

Mine costs around 20 euro, but that is not a common one, it is to be used with my soldering station. So the price depends on the iron you have.
I guess the LB chip will cost around 15 euro, so it's up to up you, if you think it's worth it give it a try.
A new one is more expensive.
Maybe in your country Sony has the same exchange service as here, then you may return your dead PS2 to Sony and they give you a good one back for 81 euro.
