Hey everyone recently my PS2 has been acting strange. It makes this grinding noise with only SOME disks (mainly the blue ones). One time I put Star Wars Bounty Hunter in and it scratched the crap out of it. Please help

Does it make scratches in a cirle form? I had the same problem once, and one thing that may help is a protection mat. You can get one at consoleplus.

No, it makes deep scratches about a mm wide all over the disk like the laser is hitting it.

here is the problem...since the disc drive in a PS2 is a DVD-ROM drive it spins faster so it can read DVDs and since CDs (the discs with the blue bottom are all CD-based) are lighter than DVDs they spin hella fast and scratch in the tray if its dirty...small dust particles can seriously damage the disc when its spinnin this fast so what u should do is clean ur disc tray by blowing away the dust with a can of compressed air or if these are CD-R games, buy a CD stomper and put labels on ur discs so they are heavier and dont fly around it the tray as much
