PS13 fuse.... –
The microscopic fuse on the motherboard isnt gettting a reading on my multimeter. I started the thread below where the disc isnt spinning. Could i solder a jumper on that fuse to see if thats the problem before i actually replace it? would that work to do that?
it would work, but definately not recommended. if it needs to blow again and you've use a piece of wire then something else down the line is likly to blow.
what i normally do is use a glass fuse of the same rating. you can even remove the wire from the glass and solder that across the blown fuse.
how do i test the BA chip to make it hasnt gone south? i think PS13 fuse is .4 amps so do you get a glass fuse of the same amps? thanks
the LA or BA is a tricky one to test. THere's no real way to be 100% sure other than to replace it. But one could make a educated guess given the desciption of the problem.
what version ps2 do u have? v9,10 and 12 have a 400mA PS13 fuse. Yip - get a glass fise with the same amps - 0.4A
i have the Ver7 (39001) PS2 and it has the BA chip
thats a 700mA fuse - for the 5V regulator.
so its a 700ma (.7amp) fuse. Radio shack only has a .75amp fuse which i guess is close enough.
