PS2 - PS1 Fuse and spin question
PS2 - PS1 Fuse and spin question –
04-10-2005,12:09 PM
Hi
I have seen some mention of this posted but nothing definitive. As for the spin issue I know there are many possibilities, just looking for some input in case I missed it.
The PS1(Location) Fuse (V4 no mod)
The PS1 is the centre located fuse of 400mA, correct? I am requesting if there is a place in North America that I can purchase them from being that I checked the usual spots such as Digi-Key (I am in Canada).
The Spin Problem [DMS4 Pro installed (yes I know but I got it for free)]
Symptom;
V4 PS2, worked fine and was placed on shelf for a few weeks, when connected back up the tray was jammed so I unplugged it and removed the cover of the drive to find slight damage to the tray underside track which was easily fixed but now the tray moves and the laser moves up and down but no actual laser (No beam).
Tested all the fuses, swapped the laser with a known working one which did the same thing but when returned to it's previous box it worked fine. Tested all wires coming from the chip to see if any solders broke and checked for bridged with MM.
I am still a bit wet under the ears, I have only done 31 PS2s to date and none over the V7 (I stick with the V4 when I can get them) except for one V12 that I am playing with Automan's IDE interface. I have been doing xboxes before and PC mods, this is a hobby to me and done as relaxation... well until now.
Any suggestions, comments or criticisms are welcome, for right now these are off the table and shelved till I have the time to give them more attention and regain sanity and vision.
Thanks
