This was downloaded by me through PSBBN (original one and non mod JP PS2) back in 2003:
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfOKWjwMsCs"]YouTube - TEST_PS2.avi[/ame]

Basically it's a small PS1 game which runs from a BIN ISO and the PS1 emulation was modified to run the said ISO from the HARD DRIVE instead of the CD-ROM drive.

Is this interesting in any way ?

Looks fake to me. More like they had the PS1 game saves on the HDD rather than the PS1 memory card.

What make you think it's fake ?

It's the first version of the "POPS" software they reused on the PSP later.

FYI, this download was pulled from PSBBN when HDLoader released.

It used to be on "Konami Channel" at PSBBN marketplace.

"ビシバシスペシャル3体験版" <- title name (in japanese)
http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/20021011/psbb2.htm <-release information of this title in particular

Google it and then come back tell I'm lying here.
    I recorded the video myself.

Edit: And I really meant to title this thread "PS1 games on the official PS2 HDD. Silly mistake.

But is the PS1 games actually 'PS1 format" or are they ported to the pS2 format, so they will work from the HDD?

We already have some games they ported from PS1 to PS2, like a few of the Mortal Kombat games. I have them running from HDLoader.

If those ISO's are un edited from the original PS1 format and you have the software that allows them to run from a PS2 format HDD, then im sure it could be of interest, as many of us would like to backup our PS1 collections and run them from HDD like we do with our PS2 games.

    Edit:

I fixed the Title name for you....
    PS2 Consoles:

    SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

It's a PS1 iso. Slightly obsfuscated but after it's "byte adjusted" it plays on ePSXe.

The ELF that runs on the EE contains a complete PS1 BIOS. The "header" on the PS1 ISO has the following interesting header: "SPOP" (lol)

Video is nice, but it would be nice to see the files themself, and the format, hopefully some progress can be made on this, and it can be made to work with other ps1 games and on current ps2 models.

i rembemer somebody shared those a while ago, mostly as partition dumps.

it was hard to figure out but it did look like some dnas-enabled executable + game image as a separate partition/file.

I am myself convinced that this material is genuine, and that it is (as l_oliverira says) an 'ancestor' of the PS1 emulator by Sony used for the PSP.

But the fact that this stuff is genuine is also the reason why we can never have those files here, since that would be a copyright violation, and thus a violation of our site rules.

Those files integrate three separate products each covered by copyrights:
    1: The PS1 emulator
    2: The PS1 bios
    3: The commercial game ISO

So we can only discuss these files here, but anyone who wants them has to get them elsewhere.

    Best regards: dlanor

I have come across the files myself, and it does look genuine, and like you said, sadly it is Sony fully copyrighted product, so if anyone posts links here to them, I will BAN their ass forever.

It would be nice to be able to somehow write our own PS1 emulator, but not sure how it could be done without including the PS1 bios (which is copyrighted), unless it can be extracted somehow out of the PS2 bios, which I guess might not be possible since Sony themselves didn't do it.
