Disconnect your PS2 dualshock controller and the PS2 memcard from your PS2 console...now connect your PS1 memcard in the first slot of your PS2 and then plug in the PS1 controller in the first controller slot...
Now startup your PS2 and then pop in the PS1 disc you want to play...it'll load
up and then you can play with the saves on your PS1 memcard...

How do I transfer PS1 Game Saves to my PS1/PS2 memory card?
You can plug in your PS1 controller in the first slot and the PS1 MC also in the first MC slot and the PS2 MC in the second slot...now use the inbuilt PS2 browser to copy the saves between the two cards...
You can use ULaunchElf also for this...connect everything the same way and load up uLF, now just copy between the MC's but i think that uLF will not preserve the PS1 flags and hence the PS1 saves on the PS2 MC will appear corrupted or you can jus give it a shot...

NOTE: Even though you may be able to transfer the saves and play the games with that save game data, you CANNOT save the ps1 game saves on the PS2 MC while playing...

hey sorry for not answering your ques correctly...well, for transferring you PS1 downloaded game saves to a PS1/PS2 memcard...first, download the save(duh!)... now burn the saves on a CD or put them on a USB pen drive or FTP them to your HDD... now launch uLe on your ps2 with the PS1 controller and the PS1 memcard connected to their respective primary slots...and now just copy the saves from the CD/USB/HDD to the memcard..make sure there is nothing else connected to the PS2 other than the PS1 controller and memcard.. for transferring the saves to a PS2 memcard, connect the PS2 controller and memcard to slot 1 and jus copy the saves... that should work although i did state above that if u use uLe to transfer the saves which are in folders then they may ot work... but for game saves that are not in folders, this method will work...

    Hello,
I tried plugging my PS1 controller and the PS1 MC into slot 1 of my PS2 and using the system browser, it did not see the card. All it said was "No data"; but if I plug in my PS2 card into any of the 2 slots, it will appear. I have a version 14 PS2 with a Crystal Chips Pro 2.0 modchip in it. I don't know if this is causing a problem but I did launch the PS2 System Browser but it won't "see" the PS1 MC in slot 1 (or any other slot for that matter).

Is there any other way to transfer data saves from the PS1 MC to the PS2 MC? Thanks very much!

p.s. I also understand that you can't save any PS1 game data on the PS2 card due to data format differences, but I suspect in my case I can't even save PS1 game data to a PS1 MC since the system doesn't see it...

get a dexdrive, they are still available, and pretty cheap on ebay.

they can also make an image of your memory card which you can use in an emulator like epsxe
