PS1 Bkup cd cannot play on PS2 –

Hi... please help me... i got this prob n i don know where to start...
What i did:
1. power up ps2
2. press eject
3. put PS CD
4. red screen appear ("please put PS or PS2 CD")
i try to reset (many times), still red screen appear. then i press n hold the power button (cd still inside) then it goes straight to browser with MC n blue CD (then i let go power button). i did this many times and only once it can boot to PS game. i try again (about 10 times)but failed. it can play dvd movie + ps2 dvd + cd audio fine but sometime red screen appear with ps2 dvd game. i don have ps2 cd. is it bcoz of voltage or the lens distance? or is it bcoz of the modchip? does the cdr i use have any effect?
in the browser, i select the blue cd icon n it goes back to the browser.
btw, i use PS backup CD + M2 modchip. my ps2 ver4 PAL.
please help, i'd read about cleaning the lense n adjusting the laser but my machine can read cd n dvd...
Thnk you very much...

From standby (CD inserted) press and hold the reset button til the blue light comes up. Or, from standby press the reset button and when the blue light comes up press the reset twice (fast) again (it is a Matrix style PS1 boot option) One of these should work. Laser conditions and SCEX wire thickness may affect the PSX booting, so those also may be examined. The way you tried to boot the PSX game is the PS2 boot method, so that does not work.

I would not play with the laser fir the first time, but I'd examine the scex wire to be connected properly, and well, it is better to try a thicker wire for scex.

by the way, is the modchip that you have an original Messiah 2 or a clone ?

SCEX wire is needed to boot PSX backups.

IS SCEX wire connected to the same point in all modchip? i still don have the time to open up my machine... maybe later today...
btw, i can succesfully boot using MC exploit cd i created. only that i stuck on installing it to MC. what i'm saying is it can read cdr.
