i noticed that plugging ps2 in and having pc wireless made the games hiccup on cutscenes more. so i recommend wired.

also, you dont need internet to have a network, so yes, that would work as well.

i was originally going that route, but im not sure exactly what youre getting at.
i had issues myself with this because if your pc is hooked up wireless to internet, and you also have a seperate router, im not sure if pc being plugged into two different networks (one for internet, one for ps2 smb) would work together.
you may need to have either the ps2, or the internet. one at a time. i could be wrong, but using two different networks seems odd to me and i dont know much about a pc being connected to two networks at once.

I think you are little wrong. The router must give IP with or without internet connection. Cause i can always browse in my routers-web, with or without internet connection, that means my PC has an IP.....
    Maybe you have something wrong....
If really it donīt give IPīs try manually give your PC an IP.
The standard IP of an Router (Gateway) is 192.168.178.1, or 192.168.2.1, or 192.168.0.1....
So if you try it on your browser with which IP your Router-web opens, then you can give your PC an manually IP of that range....
