Problem with sound

First of all im not sure if this is the right area to post this topic so a big sorry in advance. I got a problem withm my ps2 i get no sound on any game (original backup on esr) or any dvd movie either. I experienced some sound problems before (the sound got mute (actually i got some sound but even with my tv turnes all the way up i barely couls hear it) and after a while was back on automatically) for about a month and then one day... no sound at all. All the games play perfectly i dont get any other glitches. So what do you think is the problem? could it be the cord? I tried moving it but nothing happened. Or could it be the lens?
Any help would be appreciated

Try cleaning your lens with rubbing Alcohol and a q-tip in a slow circular motion. And slow with the dry end.

It also could be a break in some of the wires.. DJ
