my slim modded ps2 has a problem playing psx games... the problem comes when the games have more than 1 disc (ff7,8 etc).. whenever the console asks me to "please insert disk 2" my ps2 wont read the second disk... its very frustrating.. what should i do?

    Your modchips 'sleep-feature' is active.
This means, it is disabling the chip once an inserted disc is recognized...
It depends on which chip you have soldered... and on the firmware installed... if it can be fixed at all...

wow... that's some horrible news... can you give me any advice on what to do? what if i burn all 4 disks onto 1 dvd? i found a tutorial, would that fool my ps2??.. worst case scenario, I'll just take my ps2 to a shop and get it re-chipped. you have any idea how much that would cost these days in euro?

here are all the details i know about my ps2 slim... i forgot to mention, it has a MATRIX chip. can the sleep feature be disabled on this chip???

    my ps2:
    console SCPH - 77004
    browser - 1.40
    cd player -2.00
    PlayStation driver- 2.00
    dvd player - 3.11E
    mac address - 00:13:15:F4:35F

I've never bothered with using some kind of alternate dashboard where you can access mod chip settings and so on.. what would i need to look for to access these setting on my matrix chip? i don't know where to begin.

Nope, you can't run PS1-Games from DVD (except if you use images and PS2PSXe).

    Nope, not sure (how much).
If I remember correctly, most of those games request you to save before changing the disc.

If it isn't a Clone, it could be disabled afaik/if I remember correctly...

There are no alternate dashboards for chips.
Every chip has a firmware specifically designed for it.

Hold TRIANGLE and CIRLCE on boot-up.
Warning! If you have an old clone, you shouldn'T change it's settings, since itwill 'brick' the modchip.

Edit: About the manager: I think it is a CD-ISO, but I'm not sure...

i used the triangle and circle trick and it brought me an infinity version 1.88 blue screen with a bunch of settings. i turned "PSX MULTI DISK" on but disk 2's still don't work (even though the ps2 browser recognizes them as disk 2's)... then i got frustrated and tweaked most of the settings and saved them..still nothing, so i changed them back to how they were... my ps2 still works fine so i guess its not a clone chip... i wasn't able to find the "afaik/" setting you mentioned though.. is there some other menu i can access by holding other buttons??? thanks so far.

The newest MI-Firmware is 1.93 if I remember correctly.
You might read through some info about those firmwares, if someone had issues with it and so on.
I guess a clone with such a new MI-Firmware-Version will not break if you try to reflash it, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure yet, if there were any changes which fixed something in regard to Multidisc-Games

It still could be a clone, but a newer&better one.
    Not one of the Modbo2.x-Series

i wasn't able to find the "afaik/" setting you mentioned though..
afaik = 'as far as I know'

Point your mouse over the underlined 'word' and you see the description.
It is not a setting, but internet-jargon/slang.

is there some other menu i can access by holding other buttons??? thanks so far.
Nope. Only the DEV.-modes and the 'force-disctype'-modes.
