Power on ps2 slim without power button?

To OP, It will not work, and if you go bridging thos connection you will fry fuses, you NEED the power/reset board. You can customize the ACTUAL power button but you can not bridge from ribbon or before the ribbon, PS2 depends on having the power board. reset board, properly installed. Also do not use tape, and if you can't solder very fine points you should not be trying to modify this, the power button has fine points to solder from.

so what is on the little board besides two switches for power and reset?
i will have to see if i have the schematics at home still....

well it looks ok to me. all you need are a couple of wires and a momentary action switch... there is nothing on the board to worry about. it wont harm to not have the power LED but the circuit is there if you want to add it.........

OMG Thank you very much! I got it to work! I guess it was as simple as that. All I had to do was solder a wire on one of the points and place the other end on the other point for a second and WaLa! It worked

You can see one end of the wired on the right of the picture. And the "X Enter" on the TV and the blue light coming from the control plug.
Now I need to see if I gave away my memory card and if there is a work around for a missing drive ribbon...

You can buy a new one online for like a really cheap price, 3$ at the most. The board its self is on beay for 10$. You should never bend a heat sheild like that... The final option is to get a new PS2 which have built in power supplys. But also, buying the new parts are VERY cheap and not expensive. Also, it's not smart to solder the way you did because if there is a overvoltage in anyway, your CPU or GPU could literally explode. Take it from a 13 year old who was on Tom's Hardware and also built PC's, fixed a PS3 and diagnostic the PS3 and even fixed a Ipod. You may need to buy a new sheild now.
