Power on ps2 slim without power button?

I have been Google-ing all day ;) to see if it was possible to power a ps2 slim without the front power button switch. I have a PS2 slimline I got from a pawnshop 5 years ago for my birthday it was in very good condition. Haven't played it in like 3 years or so. A couple months ago I opened it up for the first time looking for parts to fix my ps3's power touch sensor, which I broke when trying to fixing my constintally freezing CECHE01-MG. I took out the ribbon from the laser and cut it to the right size to fit in the ps3. I also took out the white and blue power switch ribbon, strangely it was the exact ribbon for the ps3's power sensor! And I lost the ps2's power switch in the process.
So I have a PS2 Slimline SCPH-70012 with no laser ribbon, power switch, or power switch ribbon. Is there any way to turn it on
without those? I can survive without the drive and maybe find a ribbon for the power switch, but I don't have any replacement to the
switch it self!
I can just buy the parts on ebay for like $5 from Ebay but I dont have money right now and don't want to wait for shipments from Hongkong. What are other things my PS2 is still good for?:chinscrat

try bridging to gap where the + and - spots with a wire.it should work if the button only has 2 connections.(i have a phat but i'm pretty good with electronics)(i have a slim too with a broken power switch but i haven't tried it yet because i put it in the garage and can't find it)

yea, try putting the wire to them before u solder to make sure u wave the right points(it needs to be pluged in so u can see if it can turn on)(just don't touch the metal part of the wire, u dont want to get shocked)

Aright thank you(: I will trying tomorrow since its midnight. but would like any wire do? I can find some copper and other stuff around my house to use. Oh, I learned my lesson of touching exposed electrical stuff. I was messing with my ps1 and had my thumb on the brown power board and plugged it in and bam! I fell:lol:
edit: Dam, I forgot I lost my soldering iron:( Well electrical tape work, somewhat at least?

it should if u make it have a good connection and keep the tape on their good.

the power switch is momentary.if you bridge it it will turn on then turn off. remember you hold the power switch in to turn it off....

So having those two points bridged will be like 'holding the power switch'? I just want a way to turn it on. So if I solder one point and touch the other one it would turn on? and to reset I would touch again when it's on? and turn off I would just hold it there, or just unplug power cord?

Yes.
if you unplug the power cord you may corrupt the MC if it hasnt finished saving. so wait a while after a save to pull the plug.

ok. umm. Is there suppose to electricity flowing to the motherboard on the opposite end of the power plug? Because when I touch i get no shock anywhere near there, but there certainly is power on the other side(A big spark jumped at me when I poked it with a screwdriver:lol:) K, so I tried what you guys told me to do and no luck:/ I don't solder but I used electrical type, pliers and my hands to hold the wires I used into place and still nothing. I think maybe I'm way off about the two spot?
