is it possible to use a ps2 dvd drive in a pc? –
Might be a silly question but i know absolutly nothing about hardware and mods, is it possible to use a ps2 dvd drive in a pc or controle it from the pc.
I ask because i have a spare ps2 and wanted to save a few $ on buying dvd drive for the pc if its not needed.
all i want to do is rip dvd movies to the pc to convert to divx or xvid
nothings inpossible, I encourage you to try!
You must be kidding, right ? These two are totally different hardwares and well PS2 has a very slow/unreliable DVD drive compared to the PC. Not to mention, how would you attach the PS2 drive to the PC as the PS2 drive controller is on the PS2 board... No, this question may go to the Lamers section right now.
PS; and the cost that you're going to save, well a PC DVD costs some 20 bucks while you cannot buy a simple laser to the PS2 for less than 40... it's REALLY an amazing bussines.
It's probably possable, but it would require allot of hardware hacking, you would have to build a controller board for the PS2's DVD rom so it could interface with the IDE on your computer.
I'd be more intrested personlly in finding a way to make IDE DVD-Rom's work with the PS2, since the Ps2's DVD-Rom is so crappy..
Sell it on ebay and get the money to buy a dvd rom drive, you'll actually earn some money this way. It's next to impossible to do what you want to do.
I have a perfectly good working dvd-rom drive that I would happily trade for your working ps2.
