Possible to use GameShark cheats w/ copy games?

Since most copy games need to be booted from standby mode, how would you go about using gameshark (gameshark 2 v3) codes since you need to open tray and put in your game?

I just tried but I get a "Cannot load disc" error,

Anyone?

What kind of chip are you using?

If your using Magic 3.1, Messiah 2, DMS 3 just simply put in the gameshark, and have it load up...Put in the cheats, and insert the game whenever it tells you too.
BTW: Magic 3.1 really sucks for booting codebreaker, or gameshark. Everytime I load it up, and go to insert the game...It always takes me at least 2 tries to get it to load.
Also, cheats don't work with any games that have Pal/Ntsc selectors at the beginning.

and like I said, I don't know what chip your using, but if doesn't have to be booted from standby mode....maybe that works better for you (actually I think it works better for me too), but it can be booted anyway.

Hey, I have a Messiah 2.. but just another thing that didnt work out for me.. I tried to use the copied gameshark with a original game of mine, all I get is a black screen.

Is it because this gameshark was ripped improperly?

The gameshark will fit on a cd-r automatically...Nothing has to be ripped cuz it's already small enough to fit on a cd-r. Your Messiah 2 shoudl work fine with a copy of Gameshark...Does the Gameshark give you a black screen or the game? I'd say the gameshark is messed up more than likely. Might want to get yourself another copy, or i'd say get a copy of Codebreaker (much better).

Hey, Well after trying it out a few more times.. the GameShark does work with copy games, but still doesnt work with my original ones. I select the codes, go back to main menu, select "Start Game", tray opens.. I insert original game, close tray, click X, and then I get the black screen :(

I'll try to get myself a copy of CodeBreaker in the mean time,

someone asked this in #ps2newz the other day...

what ya gotta do is, when you go to start game, and the tray comes out, put the game in, but dont press X to put it back in. Press eject yourself for it to go back in so theres enough time for the disc to authenticate (just wait maybe 5-10 seconds) then press X and it will load

tested on 5 games, (3) backups and (2) originals and they all boot and the cheats work

try that maybe?

Hey guys, still no luck here :( I made a copy of code breaker as well, same thing happens. Copy games can boot now after I press eject to close the tray myself, but my original games (tried both manually close tray and let gameshark/codebreaker close tray) still I get "Booting Game" ... - Black Screen - and it just stays that way.

Any suggestions?

Hmm, after about 2 weeks later (hehe) still no good. Copy games boot perfectly off my copy gameshark/codebreaker, however..originals still do not :/

It just gives me a black screen, no cd movement in the system, and the red light on my controllers go off. I've tried everything, including suggestions here (ie: press eject manually, wait 5-10seconds, then press x)

Can anyone help me out? I'd really like to use gameshark with my originals too ! :)
