Title says it all. I've got a v7 PS2 with a dead 400C laser, and I'm pretty sure that it's not possible to replace it with a 400B - but if anyone knows of way it can be done (or if they can simply be swapped), I'd love to hear about it.

    Thanks

Nope. 400B only works for V1-4.

Why didn't you just replace it with 400C? 400C is a better lens compare to 400B

It is,... but unfortunately I don't have any on-hand and they're a lot more expensive than the 400Bs.

Thanks for the clarification T07N... I just wanted to make sure.

    Cheers

U can use a coil and lens from a 400b laser ind the 400c laser.
You just take the laser and the coil and fit on the 400c sleed... the holes dosent fit for but you can just glu or solder it on the sleed. I have done this, and it works just fine!

Thanks for the tip MaximusDK. I had actually tried removing both lenses from the 400B (they were scratched to hell - who knows what he used to clean them!) and tried glueing some good ones in place, but it didn't work. I imagine the lenses have to be perfectly installed (although it looked like I had them in place). Maybe I'll see if I can glue a 400C laser sled onto this 400B.

    Cheers

There is 2 small bits on the 400C sleed that the 400b laser+coils fit on so it is placed just where it sould be... done this as soon as yesterday.
the only thing missing is the screew holes so therefor you have to glue og solder it.

Right on,... thanks again MaximusDK. I'll have to go through my 'laser junk box' and see if I can piece one together.
