I really like the OPL project, and I had great success playing games off SMB and usb hard drive.
Is there anything out there that will let me do the same thing with my PSX backups? Using PSXLauncher, I have found newfound respect for my PS2 slim V12, and I am exploring all available PSX options.
Any help greatly appreciated!

At present jetlee is correct:
There is no public software available allowing PS1 games to be played through a custom game loader on the PS2.
But this may come in the future, if ffgriever gets sufficient time (and inclination) to complete his work on the PS2PSXe emulator. In its present beta form, and used together with Radshell and uLaunchELF, it already allows starting of PS1 games over network, provided only that you have a HOST protocol client running on the PC (like RadHostClient, PS2AutoClient, PS2ClientLoader, all also useful with uLE or SMS).
But the current beta still has an insufficiently fast GPU module, and an SPU module incapable of making any sounds, so it is not ready for any public release in its current form.
