Possible Laser Issue PS2 Slim
I received a PS2 slim SCPH-79001 for Christmas and was trying to do a swap trick on it to install FMCB (I have a modified agent under fire disc that has driving.elf replaced with a ulaunch elf). I had no problem getting it to work on my friends old PS2 console a few weeks ago. So after trying several time with no success i gave up, thought "I can just use his PS2 to install FMCB to my memory card, and went to play red faction. So I put the disc in and my PS2 tells me "the disc could not be read." So I turn it off, wait a minute or 2, turn it back on and the game reads. Then later I tried a black bottomed PSX disc, Atari Arcade Classics, and on the main screen it plays a CD Audio track, and it skips around and won't play right. So I put the disc in my original Playstation, and it works fine. Then I put it in my MacBook, play it in iTunes, works fine. So what I am wondering is, is there a possibility that I did any damage to the laser that could progress until I have disc read error on my PS2 discs? Or is this a common problem with the PS2 Slim laser being over sensitive with black bottom PSX discs? Should I really even be worrying? Just a note, even though the PSX disc works in the older Playstation and my MacBook, it is still scratched, I can see a few deep ones.
