Hi guys I need you help....

I just bought a v9 premod. Its pal scph 50004. The guy I bought it from is not sure which chip is in it but he says its magic V. Right now, all I am able to play by direct boot are Playstation 2 HK silvers. How do I figure out which chip is it WITHOUT taking it apart.

    Thanx in Advance.

I haven't tried anything as yet. Just ps2 games in the tray and turn the ps2 off and then on again and it would boot ps2 perfectly without any problems. but haven't tried any other modes. DVD and psx didn't boot the way ps2 games boot. I still have to try out the booting method as stated in the china magic site as below.

With the disk assumed in the tray and the tray closed:

? For PS2 games, power up normally from STANDBY with RESET button. A single tap is required.

? For PS1 games & DVD Movies, power up from STANDBY with RESET button held until the blue EJECT light comes on; then release RESET and the disk will boot.

? For turn OFF/SLEEP, power up from STANDBY with RESET button held until the logo/sounds comes on; then release RESET and the MagicV will be OFF/SLEEP.

? Please turn off the PS2 (to standby) before changing Mode (PS1/PS2/DVD)

May be I can try out the messiah 2 booting methods... I tried the DMS3 method but its not there and I am sure of it.

Please help me out guys. I am very scared in opening up my BRAND NEW ps2

Okay, there is an improvement now....

As stated by the Magic V people on their site that with the disk assumed in the tray and the tray closed

? For PS1 games & DVD Movies, power up from STANDBY with RESET button held until the blue EJECT light comes on; then release RESET and the disk will boot.

I am able to watch DVD movies with the method above. It worked EXCELLENT

but am NOT able play any psone HK silver. At first time, it said reading disc but then went straight to RSOD. and then on second and third try. There was again RSOD.

I tried Speed Punks and Final Fantasy IX Hong Kong Silvers.

    What should I do next.

    Thanx in Advance.

Edit: Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance DVD9 HK Silver is working EXCELLENT (touch wood)

Edit 2: Still have to try Splinter Cell, save it to the memory card, turn off the ps2, start the game again and then load the saved level back again and see whether it works or not.
