Hi, I want to play my PS2 (PS3, XBOX, Wii ect.) on my HP Pavilion f1703 LCD flat panel monitor. I'm not quite sure what to do, anyone have experience in this? I bought an external box like thing called "Rtv | VEG" but the quality was crappy. I want it to look almost 1:1 with the TV display so yeah I need some help buying one.

First you will need to adapt the playstation signal to analog vga with seperate sync signals since this monitor doesnt support any other type of input. The picture still may look like crap though. The native resolution of this screen is 1024 x 768 and the PS2 normally outputs 640 by 480 interlaced.

If your vga conversion device outputs 640 by 480p then the display will stretch the image to fill the entire screen. The monitor wont do any type of image processing to go from 640 480 to 1024 768 so some of the pixels wont line up properly and it will increase the already jagged image.

Another thing going against you is the age of this display. It has a TERRIBLE 25ms response time. Meaning any high speed games will smear all over the screen.

Good luck If you want a game system to look good on your LCD the best bet is to grab a Dreamcast.

I'm using a PCI TV-capture card with S-Video input and a quality de-interlacer (TVTime under Linux, D-Scaler under Windows). The drawback is, that your PC must work while you're gaming, but mine is running 24/7, anyway. The program itself up-scales image to full screen. To judge quality check my screenshots at MobyGames (DDS 1 & 2, Suikoden III, IV & Tactics).

    I've used this method too.

I must say that this is no good for TFT. TFTs are bound to their native res. Anything below does not really look good and PS" needs 640x480 for best results.

I've checked it on a crt monitor and I could achieve really good results.

in UK a box is coming out made for ps2.

it allows HiDef (hdtv) and comes with a vga/d-sub (additionally to standard output)

    I can't remember it's name.

    google it.

the box comes with a software which enables high def on PS2.

I'm not sure, but I believe it must be launched every time you want to play.

on ps2hd.com was a thread on this, but I had no chance to look deeper in it, since the site has been hacked right after I noticed the thread, so I can't be more precise.

My only tip is to google this thing before buying anything.

the price was around 70 pound
