  1. #1 Question Playing DVD-R Movies...
    Doogie Guest
Ok. I recently got a DVD Burner for Christmas and have been making backups of DVD-R's to test it out. We have a dvd player and a ps2 in our house. When I play the DVDs on the dvd player, everything works fine. But when I play the DVD-R Backup on my ps2, it usually says "Unable to Read Disc" around the late chapters of the movie and I can't figure out why. It doesn't do that for all movies but does for some. Does anyone know why it does this or if there is any way for me to be able to fix it?

it sounds like you're using cheap media. if you have an early ps2 v1-v4 then you prob need to buy better dvd-rs

yeah early PS2's can be somewhat picky...that or it might be the program you used for the movies. What version is your PS2? What type of discs you burning to, and at what speed? and What software are you using to rip, and then make these movie backups?

I have a V7 so it is a lot less picky, but if its a standard DVD-5, I just rip and burn with DVD Decrypter (available free at http://www.dvddecrypter.com) and if its a DVD-9, I use DVDShrink (Forget the URL for this one, BUT also freeware) to rip, re-sample/re-author and then burn with RecordNow MAX.

Its harder to read at the edge of the dvd because of "disc wobble" is more the farther out on the disc you go, so if you use hard to read media to start with it can cause trouble .

Use better media or if you are using "DVD2ONE" you can choose the final size you want to reencode the movie to and just pick a smaller size like 4000mb so it doesn't burn to the edge.
