    Hi all.
    May i ask if anyone tryied to make a program that will play backup games through the network (similar to UsbAdvance but for host:\ .
    I can see that other programmes have access to the host:\ (eg SMS) as if it was the DVD drive.

    I now this is probably a silly question but I couldnt help wondering.

    I believe the ethernet port is faster than the usb port of ps2.
    The usb port is 1.1.
    Usb 1.1 -> ~2mbps
    Ethernet -> 100mbps
    PS2 DVD 4x -> ~5,3mbps (1x DVD equals 1.35MBps)

    I will check the numbers again to be sure.

    Yip -way too slow. Even with the network adapter. It would have to cache the iso image on the PS2.
    1) Not enough memory on the ps2 to do this
    2) Try copying a 4GB image across a 100mb network - will take forever to load up.

    pmark, you really shouldn't mix theoretical and achievable speeds of different standards just to make a point. USB 1.1 is 12Mb/s, not "~2.0Mb/s"

    I believe 12Mbps is the speed of standard usb2 (480mbps is the high speed USB2 protocol)

    http://lyberty.com/tech/terms/usb.html

    I should also like to comment that the usb 1.1 is definately slower than the network adapter.
    Anyway I dont want to argue with anyone because this is not really my expertise.
    I just believe that the speed of LAN is not the problem compared to the standard usb port of ps2 that is already being used for playing backups with usbextreme-usbadvance.

    Does anybody of you have experience on development of such a tool as usbadvance? if it is opensource mayde it could be modified to allow the use of network host as source.

    Thanks.

    Actually, I think the PS2's network adapter is 10Mb, not 100Mb.
