I'm planning to start using SMB in open PS2 loader and I have two question about it. I've read that you can use .iso images directly via SMB with certain open PS2 loader revision? Which revisions can do that? I'm using windows XP SP3 ( which is heavily tweaked as I don't use LAN services and such ) Could any one who's using Windows XP either home or professional post what windows services they have activated? You can do that using services.msc run command ( windows logo + R )

    Regards.

This link should help you get started but unless you can compile recent Rivisions
of OPL iso extensions do's not work on open betas.

    http://openps2loader.info/config_net.html

The main services that should be on is Server Firewall and Secure Accounts
    Added capture hope it helps.

I can complike recent revisions, screenshot would be appreciated for the services because I need to know all of the services that have to be turned on to avoid unnecessary problems.

I think you are approaching this problem from the wrong direction, making things unnecessarily complicated. Messing with the service manager is not the proper way to do these things.

OPL uses normal native Windows filesharing, so enabling filesharing by the usual methods for sharing with another computer should do the job.

As for making a screenshot of my WinXP service list, you would need two. Even though I'm using a rez of 1600x1200 pixels, I need to scroll to a second page of that list to see all its entries. But I'm not making any this time. Not without a good reason why you can't use normal methods for enabling the file sharing.

Well recently I found out that if I don't have windows firewall enabled
I get CRC errors for wireshark which really serprised me dlanor.

That is a bit odd, as basic TCP/IP integrity should be neither harmed nor improved by a firewall. The traffic that is allowed to pass should pass unchanged. But perhaps Wireshark is dependent on some buffering that is handled differently with firewall active, so that those CRC errors represent badly captured packets due to insufficient buffering. (Just a guess though...)

But regardless of that, the server list is still not the proper and intended way to control the firewall, as that is better done by right-clicking the network icon in the system tray and use the command "Change Windows Firewall settings" in the resulting popup. That will open the normal dialog box where you can enable or disable it in the 'General' tab.

Normal everyday chores, like handling the firewall or file sharing, does not require use of the service list, and that is not the intended tool for these things. And if you do use that list to enable/disable these features you are not certain that it affects all aspects of the system properly, like when you use the commands intended for this purpose.

This is a bit like opening up a TV set to tweak its internal 'trimmer pots' to set the brightness, instead of just using its remote control or front panel controls to do it.

    Best regards: dlanor

    Me too, for special cases.

But it is not really something I'd recommend under normal circumstances, and certainly not to the average user of a TV set. They'd better stick to normal controls, where they can't short-circuit anything. (Or electrocute themselves...)

Thanks for you concern but I don't, I'm IT which means that I'm perfectly fine with service manager ( it does also mean I know what I'm doing ) and network setup which is needed for the open PS2 loader. I can explain why I need the screenshot, Windows XP ( almost every windows ) is well known for making a problems with a lot of applications ( external and internal ones ) when certain services are not actived, example? ATI card drivers and remote RPC server and bunch of other services which are normally not needed. I just want to know absolete list of the services which have to be actived in order for open PS2 loader and filesharing to work properly ( and to make proper .bat script which I'll use to disable and activate these services), because it's not provided anywhere and my system is heavily tweaked as I've said which means that I normally use 9-14 services ( All LAN, protection and sharing services are disabled because I don't have any use of them ).

    Added capture hope it helps
    That's all I need, thanks.

    Thanks for your time, Regards.
