yes i know, the sony network adapter is the best solution. but that aside, out of curiosity can you use a usb network cable? i know you can use some usb->ethernet adapters, but could you also possibly use a usb networking cable and run some sort of ics on the pc that the ps2 can use to connect to the internet through?

    No,
There is no driver (probably never will be) on the PS2 side to support this.

You could use a splitter, that is of course, if you are hooked up to a broadband connection.

Get a good quality Splitter. I use the "Monster Cable" two-way spliter, gold plated. 2 Ghz.

    1 GHz-2GHz: -4.9 dB

a router would be completely useless ergarding the question i asked. i'm not talking about using a usb ethernet adapter, or using the sony network adapter, or anything like that. my question was already answered and i acknowledged the anser, and it seems like you completely missed my original point.

using a usb link cable(no network adapters or splitters involved) linked to a pc using ics is what i was wondering might work. however as the person said above, the game would need a driver for the cable and as i recall the only discs with such a driver are the sharkport type discs.
