Does anyone remember the original Messiah, not from the same people that did the Messiah/Messiah 2, but the UK company that got sued silly by Sony that made it. After that I think they sold the technology off to the far east, and that was when the Messiah/Messiah 2 team came along.

I remember, well the rumours at least, that they did have a few on the market for a few months before they got sued, but I've never seen one or anything like that. Apparently it was also multi-region compatible.

Does anyone know, seen or maybe have one of them?

is that the hk messiah from actel?
I thought saving 15% on my car insurance was good but having my ps2 modded by N£TM£ÇH was way better!

Lots of the original Messiahs were sold. I don't think they were region free though. This is the one I just recently removed from my console.

you mean channeltech owned by gazza btw there has only been one messiah team the same one back then the same one now the original messiah was never MR unless your thinking of the neo3 aka bootmaster basicly a neo 2.2 with MR capability made by the same guys.

homegrown, that original Messiah supports upto v6. I know this because it was one of the first PS2 mod-chips I worked with, you also have the jumper setting to solder depending on UK, US or JAP.

I could of sworn there was another Messiah before this, I'm talking way back in 2001. I know for a fact that Sony sued this UK based company in Febuary 2002, for a chip they called the Messiah, and shortly after this was when your Messiah chip came into circulation.

Yeah I remember this. I think the story was something like 2 Russian developers were sued by $ony so they sold the info (or it was cracked) I do remember everyone wanting a solution other than the Neo series. 'Elvis' 'The Device' were a few of the 'Messiah Original' clones. (And they worked on V4's and below nicely.) I had a V5 at the time so I was screwed until I found a V4 (With a lot of searching)

i remember that also but i sworn it was the same chip homegrown has in that pic i even have that chip on my desk. with that chip you had to cut a track on the board and jump a wire for a color fix. then they changed the name to a hk chip and elvis and the buster.

there is only one messiah team the rest was bullshit to avoid legal prosecution.
the 2 russians your talking about are hdl and kvaks before the big bust neo and channel tech they were doing workshop upgrade's for the bootmaster aka neo3 the front guy garry took all the wrap from $ony and the messiah development release went ahead.

this elvis your talking about was a name made up by a guy called pzycho who was going round ripping people off at the time.

the track cut was only needed for the neo4 not the messiah every machine up to press has needed the colour jumper for game's unless a scart is used to bypass this.

seems people are getting mixed up here and cant sift between the bullshit that was going on at that time.

the 2 people took to court were paul owen of neo tech for the neo4 the website at the time was www.playstaionmods.com
the messiah guy that took a fall was garry edmunds from channel tech

wow, this is really gettting confusing.

Still, I chipped a PS2 v6 with that same Messiah homegrown showed us, and no there was no need for track cutting.

I know for a fact that some UK company got sued silly in late January / early Febuary 2002, on some copyright infringement, and they seemed to be the original Messiah developers. I also believe that after this, they may have sold or lost the technology to the far east. A few months the case was when homegrowns Messiah appeared, and all the non-swap mod-chips cames along after that.

My local library should have the records, and I'll double chech this case, next time I'm in there.
