hi, I recently bought an official ps2 multitap but only for SCPH-70000 series
and I have a v5 which is abviously not a SCPH-70000 but a SCPH-30000R or something... the multitap connector has this little plastic thing so that you can only plug it in SCPH-70000 ps2s...

so the question is; do you think if I remove this little thing with a cutter or something, and use it with my ps2 the multitap will work?

    thanks

I tried to dremel mine because I didn't want to spend money on an adapter. It didn't work, but didn't cause any harm to the console.

I think loy has it right. Take it back, get one that fits.

Sony's being a bit retarded as of late. There were 75 million of the original style PS2 made, yet finding a multitap for it has been extremely difficult for the past year or so. Even Sony's own Metreon store in San Francisco doesn't have it. So why in god's name did they feel that it was necessary to literally flood the market with multitaps for the PStwo when such a small number of those systems have been made compared to the previous design?

And wouldn't it have been really easy for Sony just to make a simple adapter that would have made the new multitap work on all PS2 systems ever built? Pure idiocy if you ask me. I'm just venting here a little, but this multitap fiasco that Sony made has had me really irked for a while.
