Har har har! Thought that'd get yer attentions! Me friend opened up his PS2 ta clean his laser lens. All went smooth, the case came off okay and he cleaned his lens just fine. The problem was puttin' the wee screws back in. When he did that, the screws broke! He contacted $ony tech support and they told him that the screws are SUPPOSED ta do that and that he should send in his PS2 to be repaired by a certified technician.

I told me pal there that $ony was full a barnicles on that! Anybody else 'round 'ere ever hear of such a thing happening?

Sony is so full of BS. The screws are not supposed to break. If that was true, why didn't they break when they were originally put in???

Anyway, I am assuming you are referring to the screws in the top metal shield because I have had a few problems with those screws if they are not aligned properly when they are screwed back in.

What version does he have? I have some extra top metal shields.
The Yellow PS2 auto-boots all. PS2, PS1 stealth and DVD movies.

He has a V7-V8 system that he just got like 2 months ago. He dis say it was the screws that held the top of the case on though...so he did. He was thinking of trashing it and just buying the new online bundle, so I says to 'im "Arrrrrrr, if'n ye're gonna just pitch that beastie away, gives it ta me, why don'ch ya!"

Did he get the screws out? He should be able to take some needle nose pliers and get them out.
