Odd Magic 3 problem

Chip info: Magic 3, alternate Z point used, switch installed.

This has been happening ever since the chip was installed, but now its happening more frequently. Sometimes when I power on the PS2, nothing happens. The light turns green, but that's it. No disc spin up, no video (no black, screen, it stays on the VCR blue screen). The only way to fix it is to use the power switch in the back to turn it off and back on. But now sometimes that doesn't even work. Its been creeping me out lately, because I might have to reset the ps2 5 times to get it to power up properly. BTW, it might do this.. oh... one third of the time. Otherwise its normal. Thanks guys.

EDIT: BTW, its a V7 PS2.
