    hey guys,
Need a little assistance with my newly soft-modded PS2.
I've been spending the past few days reading on the softmod, and right now, I'm quite lost

1st of all, the Ps2 is an old SCPH-30001-R. I finally managed to soft-mod it last night via PS2 Game swap (007 agent under fire).
Installed FMCB & other apps using the noobie Package. Everything installed fine, and I didn't change any configuration yet.
I selected the "Multi version install" FMCB, just in case if this makes a difference.

I read up the forum on how to create/play PS2 game backup, and I thought I got it figure it out, and I didn't
OK, 1st, I "obtained" (2) old games ISOs, one is way of samurai 1 & 2 & the other is King of fighters Max Impact.
Both games have ISO & MDS files.
I downloaded ESR patch 0.24, patched both games, and burned it to DVDs using PowerISO (& Cyberlink Power2go).
To cut the story short, I burned it with 4 types of DVDs (just to make sure) : Phillips DVD-R, Win-DATA DVD-R, Verbatim DVD-R & Finally Maxell DVD+R (with both PowerISO & Power2go at 6X speed & some 4X), and the result is the same, It didn't play at all in the PS2. It just shows "Loading.. w/ CD accessing noise" -> "Black/Blank Screen" -> back to "FMCB Main Menu". All the time it kept returning to the main menu. The way I did it was, I put the backup & select ESR -> then Launch CD/DVD.

My question is, am I missing something? Do I have to configure something in ESR or FMCB? any help will be appreciated.
I also read that not all games can be played with ESR patch. So this could be the reason, but I just want to make sure.

I even tried to put it in a USB thumb Drive, select OPL -> configure the USBHD to auto, and OPL didn't pickup the games, BUT last night I read that you have to format it in a special way and rename the games before it can be recognized. That will be my next plan/project if this backup thing is not successful.

Thanks again guys, sorry for the long story

Try Imgburn/Dvd Decrypter, also i think yr model of ps2 has hard drive compatibility so i would think about getting a hard drive and HD Loader homebrew because your laser is prolly shot or will be soon.

And till you want to buy a Network-adapter you can use or test the USB-HDD.

BUT last night I read that you have to format it in a special way and rename the games before it can be recognized.
If you have games till 4GB you dont need to format it in a special way, only to rename it.....

The USB must be in FAT32

Make folder on your root of USB. ("CD" for games till 700MB, "DVD" for games till 4GB, "ART" for your covers if you want, "VMC" for your virtual MC if you want)

Rename the .iso and put it in the folder. Here you can read......

Thanks for all the input guys. I really appreciate that.
I think you guys are totally right. To make my life a lot easier, I do think I have to move on from this ESR thing as it starts to drive me crazy
I'm going to look for the network adapter in Ebay, as I already have a 40GB maxtor HD that I can use for this purpose.

Just one more thing guys, I did test drive using an old 2gb USB thumb drive last night, format it to FAT32, and use USBUtil 2.0 to transfer the iso to the usb.
OPL detected the USB and the game inside, but as soon as select start game, the screen turned to colors for a while (which I know is normal) but then blank/dark screen, nothing happens. What could be the problem here?

    Thanks again

Did you defrag the game must be 100% defraged for OPL to work with USB

    V10 SCPH-50001 with Network adapter SCPH-10281 500 G HD
    PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred

Right, first check to defrag the game (auslogic is good and free)...

Download Auslogics Disk Defrag for free

Otherwise maybe your iso is corrupt.....

Or you have just tried one of the few incompatible games.

    Thanks a lot guys,
Yes, I finally got that working. I put a few games and all of them worked good except one, which I assume it is either incompatible or corrupted.

Defragging is definitely THE solution, and you guys are right, using a HDD really makes my life a LOT EASIER
    good bye ESR

Appreciate all the HELP & INPUTS
