Hi, i'm sorry to bother you all with such a lame question, but i have a slim ps2 and i can't get any controller to work. i guess its the ports (neither work). i tried cleaning them and all the pins in my remotes. i looked all over the internet trying to find ways to fix them, i tried opening it to see if something came loose. i really dont know what to do. it looks like an easy fix for the fat ps2, but i cant find anything for the slim. they worked fine, then started going in and out (sometimes hitting all buttons in frustration got them to work, sometimes shaking the input got them to work) now it just doesnt work at all. its driving me crazy. is there any way to fix this or should i just give up?

thank you in advance for any and all help.

thanks for replying, you mean the three metal pieces that on the outside of the input? i'm not sure if thats what you mean (i'm def. still new with all this) but i cleaned those on the remotes and console with a q-tip with some cotton ripped off and lightly dipped in alcohol and still nothing. i tried slightly bending the pins on one remote to see if they'd connect, also its odd because the red led light will light on the remote, but it gets no button feedback at all. i tried shaking it ( it worked the first few times, now not at all). i tried everything i could think of. it might need to be re-soldered inside. maybe i'll try to get a few bucks and sell it for its laser and what not. also, since i bought it, i was mostly using non-sony remotes, and the sony website says that after time that could permanently damage it (which i thought was just them trying to sell their expensive remotes...until now lol) either way, i appreciate your help.

Have you tried borrowing a controller from someone else and seeing if that is not the problem? It could be that you got stuck with a pair of broken controllers.

If that's the case, it doesn't mean the controllers are busted, but they might have slight connection problems. You can open them up and see if the contacts in there are completely clean. If someone dropped a liquid into the controller, it could be damaged on the inside while the outside looks perfectly fine.

If you have a 79 or 90 model... its very difficult to fix that, usually a micro IC, i dont know how to name it in english, its the guilty.
Sorry i dont have photos now.
They are very small, white, and have 6 pins(i dont remember).
    Test the fuses also.

    If no progress, forgett it.
