As you can tell I'm a complete noob at this ._.

I'm getting myself an old fat ps2 this friday when I get paid and a friend of mine says he can make me one of those special memory cards I can use to boot backups and ps2 homebrew. I was just wondering if there are any good classic system emulators. I'm more worried for the snes than anything but I'd like other system emulators as well.

I already know how to make backups as well - I'm in the process of using ImgBurn to make an iso of an old Kingdom Hearts 2 disc I found laying around from where I had my old ps2, and I'm surprised it's still readable lol.

I'm good as far as making and burning iso files, anything else I need to know?

Yea, 7 reasons you should use an xbox for everything except playing ps2 games.

Reason 1. They are wonderful for Emulators and Xbox Media Center is second to none.

Reason 2. They are cheaper than PS2.

Reason 3. The Xbox bios can be easily replaced for endless possibilities.

Reason 4. No need to *BUY* and install hard drive into an xbox as they all have one.

Reason 5. No need to *BUY* a permanent memory card.

Reason 6. No need to *BUY* hard to find and expensive cheat disks or "swap" disks.

Reason 7. Some emulator/rom packages can be FTP'ed to an xbox in a matter of seconds.

Reason 8. Xbox can read most DATA DVDs (roms, mp3's, movies, etc) that your PC can whereas the ps2's mechacon is like a chastity belt for data disks unless you BUY a chip

Reason 9. In 90% of cases, one can buy an xbox and softmod it at home without
buying anything else. (assuming you have never owned either in the past)

Reason 10. The DVD drive in an xbox can be upgraded with a much faster PC DVD Rom drive.

PM me if you need more reasons.

Well, there's forums for emulators here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/ps2-homebrew-dev-emu-scene/
http://snes-station.gamebase.ca/ is SNES emulator. And you can find some modified versions around.
