I have an unmodded PS2 early version. SCPH-30001.
I have no audio/video from it. I checked all fuses and tested the connector which seems to be good. Any other ideas on what it could be?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

you mean....ps2....or a REAL PS3...
anyways...ps3's not out yet, so i'll take it as its a ps2
audio and video isnt usually fused...though im not sure, but there's pratically no reason to fuse them anyway. your best chance is to check or replace the cable or the internal video-out board thingy...
also, see if the TV flashes when you turn the power on. if it flashes and remain black screen, then its not likely to be the connection. check the chipset.
Checked the cable and the socket on the board, and both are fine.
I do get the flash when I turn the unit on, then black screen. When you say check the chipset, what exactly am I looking for? Kinda new to this, and not really sure where to look.
Thanks again.
alrite here's something u could do:
check if the reader (laser) is working properly when ur turning on the machine.
if it is, check the voltage on AV-out. http://www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/psxav.htm (shows the pin-out)
you mentioned that it is unmodded. check if there's any bridge on the soldering point of the modchip. coz sometimes its modded and the seller removes the chip and sell it as a secand hand. PS: maybe it IS modded and you dont know, and the black screen + no sound thing happens a lot when there's a wire disconnected.
if that is done and nothing's wrong, prepare for the worst. check the readings on each foot pin of the BA5815 chip, and if you're not sure how to do it then dont. have some professionals do it for you. i cant provide the information on each foot pin, but im sure someone here can do that for you.
and that's all i know about it... good luck
oh and BTW, if the laser reading is not normal, check the chip LA6508.
as i said, most of those problems are caused by faulty soldering. CHECK THE SOLDERING POINTS AND MAKE SURE THERE'S NO BRIDGE OR PIN-OFF
if the voltage on AV out is below 8V, check the chip 7808. 7808's main function is that it converts 12V(in) to 8V(out), and is connected directly to the audio/video processor. a must-check for no audio/video
Umm, it's a 30001; these don't have LA chips. And does it have 8 screws on the bottom or 10? And do check and see if it'll try to read a CD/DVD if one is inserted.
I advise you check the grounding of the AV socket. Had a few PS2s exhibit this kind of behavior due to a bent metal shroud, etc.
I'd have a look at the daughter board on the bottom of the PS2.A fuse going on that board may give these symptoms.
The only BA chip that I can find is a BA5810FP....
It does have 8 screws, and no it will read nothing CD/DVD/games.... anything.
Thanks
highly suggest u check the AV out voltage
