    Hi!

First off, I'm sorry about asking a really lame question because there are so many smart people up on here. I've been reading the forums all day long now and I'm still a little lost. I know others have been flamed for asking stupid questions, so please just bear with me for a sec...

I'm interested in loading an exploit on a mc, but I am totally clueless. I've tried numerous times, but the cd's i'm burning just aren't working. :-( Can anybody suggest a link or a quick tutorial on how to load an exploit on a mc via a thumb drive? (I'm out of cd's... sniff sniff)

I don't mind going to the store to buy more, but I just need a little bit of help on how to do this. My ps2 isn't chipped and it's model scph-35001. I just picked up the net card today for it. Also, if I plug the card into the net and download the updates from sony, does that affect anything? Should I do this? Should I not?

Any help would greatly be appreciated!!! Again, sorry for asking such basic questions, but I find a lot of posts confusing and kind of hard to get started in this.

    Thanks again for your help...

hey there and welcome. I'm pretty new as well, but from what I understand, if you have Action Replay or Codebreakers, you're supposed to boot to that, and then use the disc swap method to put in your HDLoader memory card exploit installer. ((make sure you have prepared everything like the title.db file, there should be more info on the HDLoader readme files)) and I believe it installs automatically. Then to boot to HDLoader, just make sure the "modded" memory card is in slot 1 and turn on the PS2 with the PS1 game that relates to your title.db file, and it should boot to HDLoader. From there you should be able to easily get whatever you want done much easier! If I were you, I'd go buy another pack of CD's and expect a couple more coasters too

    Hi!

thank you for being considerate to a noob. ;-) Anyways, i'm reading more and more and I think there probably is a way to do it without using a boot disc. I'm hoping for a way to use a usb thumb drive, or maybe do a disc swap with the cover off. I've never done it before, but there's always a first.

I tried to do some searching for the knife tutorial, but the only thing I could find were ones related to the swap magic disc.

    thanks again for your help!

    Hi!

Thanks for the info. Do you know what the possibilities are of just taking the case apart to do a disc swap? Can you just lift the disc off the cd drive? I only need to do this once so I can put an exploit on the mc.

    Thanks!

I haven't heard of any method using a USB drive, and you can't take the cover off to disc swap, because there is a round piece on the bottom of the cover that helps support the CD as it spins. If you really really want to look into a flip-top lid, or check out the tutorials in the case modding section for a homemade flip-top.

I haven't heard of any CD drives screwed up with the knife method, will it screw it up even if you use the swap tool template and cut it out of something plastic like a credit card? I was planning on using this method

Well man, the only ways I'm aware of to get the exploited save file on the memory card, are to either disc swap from action replay ((or something like it)) or get a tool such as x-port. If you know someone else that already has a modded PS2, they can do it for you, or there are a few people that charge a buck or two for you to send them your memory card and they will put the file on it and send it back. So basically, a 'boot disc' will probably be your easiest and cheapest route ((besides having someone else do it )).

Thanks again for all your info. I'm determined to do this without buying anything else. I will get this thing working, somehow tonight, or else a bat will be taken to my ps2. :-D

It's 9:00, I have a HD, net card for ps2, usb thumb drive, and another pack of 100 cd-r's. Somehow, by morning, I will get this thing to work... :-D

I would recommend using a sharkport or some other memory card device to just transfer the save file to the memory card painless.

Hmmm...sharkport... I got this torrent today with a ton of utils. Unfortunately, I'm still having problems...lol...

Another stupid question, but what's a 'cracked' file? In my opinion, if you crack a file and burn the disc, it should work properly without a chip, swap, or anything, right?

My whole goal is to run a hdloader. I tried to burned the so much hated ps2ownz hdloader, but that didn't work either....even though the nfo said it was cracked. Am I doing something wrong?
