new v7 (unmodded) - need 2 pieces of advice

Hi,

I got a new ps2 (v7) a couple of weeks ago. I need some advice from the wise sages here.

I have located 2 installers in my neck of the woods (Toronto / Mississauga). One installs Duo2 and the other installes Magic3.1. Which is the better chip? Can anyone recommend an installer in Mississauga / Toronto area that does good work?

In order to determine which dvd-r media I should use (having read that the ps2 is quite picky) I have been burning a backup of a movie to various dvd-r brands (burned at 1x). The funny thing is, NONE of them work. All of them work in every other dvd player that I have tried. The original movie plays in the ps2 without any problems. The ps2 tries to start the dvd-r but all I get is a bunch of rapid clicking noises repeating. What could be going on? Should I keep trying other media (i've gone through a whole bunch of brands)? Does it matter that the ps2 is not yet modded? Pot tweak required?

duo2 or the duo2SE?
MXL2 > duo2SE > Magic 3.1 (people still install these? damn!).
my advice, keep looking for installers. id even say stay away from the guy installing the magic's.

Taiyo Yuden or Ritek discs work best. your new v7 should have read those movies just fine, id have to say its your discs.

what is the difference between a duo2 and a duo2se? What are the differences between the duo2s and the matrix 3.1?

Any particular reason why I should avoid the magic 3?
