I just got a new laser to replace my dead laser on my v7 ps2. The laser I bought was the "R" type and it was from The Console Corner"

I Installed it into my ps2 and it loads up origional ps2 cd's and dvd's sometimes. It seems to load them easier from the browser, (Loads them with more success)

Everytime it reconises that there is a ps2 cd inside by displaying the "Playstation 2" logo.

The thing that is REALLY REALLY dissapointing me is the fact that the ps2 is still skipping on audio cd's These are the exact same things that happen to it with the 'Dead" laser.

With all the money that I spent on this ps2 I could have bought a bran new X Box and Mod chip... Thats really making my stomach turn.

So what should I do? I have a bran new laser, and it does nothing?!?!?!?!

Also, the Ohms for both pots are around 1100 is this normal?

I'm no genus on the subject, but this may not be a laser issue, it could be a azimuth issue, check the FAQ & Guides on a Azimuth Adjust. Charlie would you mind commenting in here? hehe
hope it helps! sorry I couldn't give you a definite answer.

it's not a laser issue, it's your modchip ( DMS3 I guess hehe ), try to desactivate it ( boot your machine with eject button and maintain it for 5s )

Well that works! But it still does not explain why the PS2 will only boot up some cd's and dvd's. But thanks for the tip it does not skip any audio cd's now. Thanks for the tip, and yes it is a DMS3 v2

Also for backups when booting up with the cdr backup inside it goes to the red, please insert a ps2 disc, and when inserting a cdr into the ps2 while in browser is just clicks and then says "disc read error"
Both origional DVD games and CD games boot up. But I think gt4 froze once I dont know, well it was defiently frozen.

Ok sorry for dubble posting but I have some more imput. I have spent about 45min moving the tangtangital screw 1/8 of a turn and testing 3 different media types. Takio Yuden (SP) Memorex (Sucky) and an origional dvd. The DVD booted most of the time except for the extremes, the screw all the way in and out. and the Memorex worked twice.
