Hey guys, I'm new to this place and PS2 modding. I tried having a go with my XBOX (exploit stuff), and my dad went apeshit for all the money I blew on it. I convinced him that if I get HD Loader and a HDD, it would pay itself off in the long run. So finally he bought me HD Loader (online from customps2.com about 3 days ago), and a 120GB Maxtor 8MB Cache. I read up on a bunch of topics and racked my brain on installing apps to the mem card. Will I be able to install the exploit with a slide card, or do i need swap magic? When PS2-Menu, or any other loader for that matter, is on the mem card, will the PS2 load that app immediatly when turned on?

More questions. When is the right time to use the slide card to swap cds and how do i do it? (i want to put in my cdr with exploits). Will a crossover cable work instead of using a router to transfer stuff over with execftps?

Hi,
You don't need Swap Magic, you could simply install the exploit installer on your HDD and run it from there with HDLoader. The exploit allows you to run pretty much any .elf file you copied over to the memory card's system folder and named "BOOT.ELF". So once the exploit is installed, the PS2 would run that BOOT.ELF file if the "trigger" PS1 game is in the drive during boot. So you need an original PS1 game to use as a trigger disc for this exploit.

You could put the hdd in your pc and install the exploit if you don't want to swap it at all.

Would I need HDD Loader already installed to do that? I know I stick the HDD in the PC, but then what?

Alright, I got HD Loader in the mail finally, and I'm already starting to install games. For some reason, it takes my PS2 a few tries to read HD Loader (it's not the shitty *******.com version) so is there any way to install an exploit to the HDD without doing a swap?

After you connect your hard drive to your computer, search around the stickies for a program like HDL Dump, which will allow you to install games or apps from your computer. You can install ps2-menu that way and run it from hdloader.
