Network Adapter - affects modchip or laser?
Network Adapter - affects modchip or laser? –
I've got a v7 with a DuoChip that I've had installed forever. It's worked great - booting games on the first try 99.9% of the time.
I recently acquired a network adapter and have noticed that I was getting the RSOD quite often and the games seem to take a lot longer to load (ie - between plays during NHL2004, the game freezes for a while - seemingly trying to load something from the disc). After a few weeks (and cleaning my laser to make sure that wasn't the problem), I decided to remove the network adapter and see if the games loaded faster and the RSOD problem would disappear. After removing the network adapter, everything worked like a charm again.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has come across this? Is it possible that the network adapter is drawing some of the 5v current that the DuoChip requires for booting? Or possibley drawing some of the voltage from the laser - making it a little less efficient at reading discs?
