ok when it comes to ps2 i'm a total noob..so i need some advice
now i've read that with a neo key, ps2 cannot boot dvdr backups
but with a combo of both neo key and swap magic is this possible
if swap magic can boot dvdr with just a flip top
why wouldnt it work with a neo key instead of flip top
anything else i need to know about neo key that is no good?

The flip top allows a disc to run without having the drive verify it. With the Neo Key you would have to press the eject button and that would automatically make the system check the disc's authenticity, defeating the entire concept of swap magic and the flip top.
You can take your ps2's top casing off, take off the little black peice that covers the tray, and just swap games like that (just like using a flip top)....Whenever I had a neo 2.2 (i feel sad just thinking about that sucky, old thing ;))...I couldn't boot dvd-r's. So, whenever I seen the SM discs come out I HAD TO GET ONE. and for a while i'd just load up the SM DVD disc, pull my ps2 cover off, and then the little black peice...Then, you insert the dvd-r game through the top, put the black peice back on, and Walah!
You just wasted a lot of time to boot up a dvd-r. You'll think it's worth it at the time (So great to finally get to play dvd-r's), but then you'll get tired of that LONGASS swapping real soon, and get yourself a Magic 2, or DMS3 ;).
A good thing to ask for a christmas present ;).
BTW: I don't know how bad your wanting to boot these dvd games, but I know I HAD TO. So, if you decide to take my advice, and I'm sure your worried that you'll screw something up if you take your ps2 apart IT'S NOT HARD...ANYBODY WITH A BRAIN COULD IT!
You simply get yourself a screw driver...Go on the bottom of your ps2 and take off those black rubber peices, take out the screws. THIS PART VERY IMPORTANT. Whenever you remove the ps2 cover...Do not yank it right off, or hard...Your reset/ Eject cable is attached to the top of the case, and with the bottom of the case as well...So, this baby isn't suppose to come off. Then, you find yourself a SMALL screwdriver, and take off that little black peice that's covering the cd tray.
I know it sounds hard, but it's really simple...Not quite as simple as just getting yourself a Pro Installer to install a M2 for ya, but until you can that'll work.
