Need help on strange v12
Need help on strange v12 –
03-17-2006,01:21 AM
My NTSC v12 keeps on having strange problems with booting. Sometimes it will work fine, and others I can't get it to boot up properly. What happens is the red light works fine, but when I switch it on, the green light turns on and off a few times. I can hear the laser or cd move and stop in syncronization with the flashing green light. After a few flashes, it sometimes loads up fine.
I've installed a myth chip on this ps2, but I think the problems were there even before the installation.
I've checked all the fuses and they seem to be fine. I've bridged PS14, as some people have done, but it has had no effect.
Sometimes when I put the ps2 on standby, I can't immediately turn the unit back on... I have to wait a while before it will turn green when I press the power.
I've installed the some0ne fix on this unit, but I haven't heard of any similar problems resulting from using that fix, so I'm really stumped. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: One other thing I've noticed is that the ps2 won't blink green if there is no CD inside the tray. When the ps2 blinks green, it's as if someone is pressing the reset button repeatedly, sometimes the video comes on and then resets.

Yup, I installed a Myth 101 in it, but I think it's been having these problems even befor the installation.
And update: I removed the som0ne fix to see if it might have been a bad install for the fix. As soon as I booted the system up, the laser fried....
I guess the fix was working... but something else on the motherboard is messed up.
Edit: Oh yeah, the mobo number is GH-035-11

I'm too poor to just get rid of it.
So I need to fix it or else I can't play Metal Gear online!
