Need help remvoing mainboard from V3 PS2 –
I just got a ***4 mod chip and I have already removed the bottom cover and the metal plate covering the mainboard. According to the instructions for installing the chip on a V3 PS2 I need to solder connection "X" to the bottom side of the mainboard. Now my problem is that I can't remove the mainboard to access the bottom side even after removing all the screws that I thought were holding it down. when I look on the other side I see all these metal pieces connected to it and i'm guessing they're connected to board somehow. So can someone please tell me how i'm supposed to remove the mainboard?
I already searched the forum for answers but I could not find any.
First you have to disconnect all the cables from the cd drive and controller port etc, then you can take the board away from the cd drive and flip it over and there will be a metal cover over the underneath of the board, some boards have like metal fins on the back and that metal cover has little tags that bend back in to the fins holding it in place, bend those tags forward slightly so it will come past the fins and then you should be able to gently pull the metal cover away
Thanks for the help, I finally got the mainboard off.
