Need extreme help fixing ps2

Hey,
Basicly i got a old ps2 from a friend its a 30003 model, and he wants me to fix it he didnt tell me how it went wrong or what he done but i do know he opened it trying to fix the Dvd drive unit, everytime i put the ps2 on there is no audio or video, the ps2 comes on the lights, fan etc but no sound or visual, i need to try and fix it, so please guys help me out here, by the way it's neva been modded.

If you really want to fix it, send it in to a PS2 repair center. Fixing PS2 is not something you can do by reading couple pages on a forum. It requires electronic knowledge and experience. If you're willing to read and research for a month then maybe it would help.

Here's couple things you could probably do to attempt a fix though. Check for any bridging in between the pins of chips. Make sure there are not any solder balls laying around causing any trouble. Go over the board carefully to make sure everything is looking good. Check all the fuses on the board to see if they're not blown.

That's pretty much it. . . .

first thing first does the tray work? If not is the blue light present?

The tray at first didnt work, that was because the main DVD Drive Cable was disconnected and 2 points on it ripped, i think its the earthing points, after i connected it, i put the ps2 on and about 4-5 seconds after, the dvd drive becomes active but only the lens jump the spindle doesnt spin even when i pop a game in, and its just blank screen thru out.

Lads anything?, i want to really get into the ps2 scene, my knowledge with console's and pc's are great but not that great, (not just saying that coz i modded xbox's), anyways, i know some of you guys here know what the problem is and most likely have a solution to it, can you please share the solution.

I have encountered the no video and audio before on V5.

If I tighted the screw on the mobo too hard, it wo'nt get video. So I let the screws loose on the mobo with the chasic in order to get video and audio. I haven't figured out why it's happen. Even the screw for the cover, I couldn't tight them either. I just let them all loose. That's enough to hang the parts together.

no sound and video while some parts are working is mainly a Fuse problem.The ps2 boards have 11 I think fuse which are not easy to spot.You must search a lot to find the fuses for your mainboard for that model.Then you should check them 1 by 1 by a multimetre.
