need a expert to help with this softmod

i have a ps 2 that i deceided to try to softmod, sounded easy but since it's old tech no info to use as a tutorial, i have a fat 50001 unit , a network adapter, a 160 gb maxtor hd,
i got a copy of both swap magic 3.8 , and today received armax in the tin box, what other files or steps do i neeed, i have a ps3 but it has ver.3.72 to modding it is on hold , i have modded my original xbox as well as my 360,
i would like to play these ps2 games i have , any help will be appreceiated, thank you

I don't consider myself an expert but if you have swap magic 3.8 coder it should be easy for you if you have a compatible usb stick
get newbie download of FMCB http://psx-scene.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=20
get a copy of uLE http://psx-scene.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=11
rename uLE to SWAPMAGIC.ELF put in folder named SWAPMAGIC on root of USB stick with then newbie package use uLE to navigate to folder holding FMCB elf file run it and install
after this post here again and I will give a few things you might want to do with network adapter and your HD

You must have retail CD/DVD of SM 3.8 to work with the tut from RandQalan, or you must have a chiped PS2......

Otherwise you may manage it with the Game-swap like "007 Agent under Fire" if you have it.....

ok after a while before i found i had an in compatabile usb i got free mcboot installed, it did however say it did not see the usb files or a boot file but it seems like it loaded the main screen has top left free mcboot top right ver 1.8middle has browser,system config,launch disk, reload config. so did it install properly or am i missing something i dont see the hd loader anywhere ? what next
