Is my PStwo fried???

Hi ppl... I'm a newbie in this forum and I got a serious problem with my pstwo.

A friend of mine installed a modchip in my pstwo and everything seemed to work properly until I tried to close the console. I don't know what happened or what did I touched that know the console doesn't start at all. NEITHER THE RED STANDBY LIGHT TURNS ON WHEN I PLUG THE POWER CABLE. :cry:

Is my PS2 fried?? Is there anything that I can do???

I haven't used it yet :cry: !!!

I don't think that the modchip is the problem because it was installed correctly and everything was working fine until I tried to close my console. I was putting the covers back and suddenly (I don't know what I touched) the red light turned off and never get back...

Please, help me :-pray:

Sounds like something shorted, you were putting the top cover on??
Did it shut off when tightening the screws or when you put the cover on??
Check the power switch and ribbon cable.

Thanks for your response GTZ... I had checked the power switch and the ribbon cable and they are ok (I have another pair of them).

I really cann't remember how exactly it happened. I think that the PStwo was on and then I tried to flip it over and I think that the power switch touched the motherboard and then shut off. After that, the red light never turned on again (standby) :(

Any idea???

Check all the fuses on the motherboard with a multimeter.
You should get continuity with them all.

Sorry but I'm a newbie... in the multimeter DC, AC, BATT, A or omhs???

If you can't get your mm to check continuity (usually beeps) then test using ohms, you should get at or very near a 0 ohm reading (0 resistance) for good fuses.

I checked the fuses, I began from the one that is near the power cord and keep moving to the left... the first were ok but then I found one that doesn't show any reading in the multimeter and after that one, any other seems to show any reading???

Did I checked them OK??? which path should I follow???

i did almost the exact same thang!!! i blew PS15 and either PS17 or 13, i need to know where to buy replacement fuses ASAP! if anyone can give me a link to some that would work(IE radio shack) it would be much appriciated!

How do you know which fuses did you blew???

The one that gave you no reading is more than likely popped. The no reading is probably that meter's infinate resistance reading which means nothing is getting through. For fuses you can go to www.richspsxparts.com OR my personal favorite electronics supplier www.mcminone.com. Good luck.
