This is for a friend actually, ive been reading a little bit around and havent really seen anything

My friends PS2, old not sure what version probably 1 or 2, She bought a multi-tap for it and it detects it but thats it.

    Example:

starting everquest with no controller in it, it says to plug a controller into port 1, then you plug in the multitap into port 1 and then the screen changes to insert controller into spot 1A. once you plug a controller into that it dosent change.

It works perfectly on any other ps2 ive tried with same controller and mem card setup.

im mostly an xbox modder myself so i know little to nothing how the controller ports or multi tap are actually connected or detected so some help would be awesome.

Do you have any problems without the multitap? You could have insufficient voltage due to a bad component or wire.
