movie formats?

ok.. i have a question... u know when u go buy a bootleg dvd movie ... a copy from a guy on the street and u come home and play it on your dvd player... and its a guy with a camcorder recording the movie from inside teh movie theater lol... what kind of format do they make that ?..... those bootlegs play on my ps2 and if i can encode to that format then i wont need ps2 media play to play movies.... anyone happen to know?

you need a DVD author program...and...Some software that can encode your regular movie files (avi, wmv, mpg) into MPEG-2 files (vob)...DVDsanta does that...WinAVI does that...go to this website for all the help ya need.....www.videohelp.com.....

yep...after you encode them into .vob....you need to DVDauthor program to burn them...I usually use Nero but there are other freeware program out there....just check out that site...they have a whole bunch of tutorial too...

ok , heres the deal... i encoded it to VOB... it worked... then i used nero and burned it like making a dvd movie... it did it... i put it in my ps2 and it just kept studdering every other second... then i put it inmy DVD player and it played normal... does the ps2 only read a certain type of file or wat?... i wanan perfect it so i can throw a bunch of ****s on a dvd for a friend cuz he keeps asking me for them and they only on my pc and he wants to playem on his ps2 so what give with the studdering?

well i got it to work on my ps2,,, i ditched the encooder program.... looked up the serial for the dvd plug-in on nero express.... now i just use nero to encode and burn the dvd and it works perfect,,.... if u have a dvd burner and nero...then there is no use for the ps2 media player unless u got it networked to steam videos....otherwise this rocks... i can put like 8 , 30 mins clips on one and on the ps2 just select which one i wanna play on a menu..pretty kool

Yes, but the quality of the movie(s) and clips will remain low, those spreading "movies" recorded with a cam make me crazy. Don't get me wrong, but I can wait some weeks/months to get the FINAL DVD with 5.1+ sound and quality picture.

pS: and nero recode is far from perfect, it's fast but quality is very avarage.

Good for ya EspI69...glad you finally got it to run....PS2 system preferred certain kinds of media over others and older version don't play dvdr as well as the newer version....

well, im not burning the camcormder videos to dvd... i was just asking to find out the format ... but neros quality is pretty desent from what i see.... doesnt look any different when what i see on my pc. its just abunch of **** thats i wanna get off my pc, i downloaded them for him cuz his pc messed up and he had already signed up an account with some site... lol (i get a copy also lol) but thanks for the help guys... enough with movies, imma try and network the ps2 media player
