    Hey guys!
    I'm a newbie, I got a problem with my modded PS2.
    The situation is as follows:

I have bought a PS2 fat modded with Matrix. It has no memory card, no cd/dvd drive. It was working very well loading games directly from hard drive without cd/dvd drive and no memory car or any, just purely modded with mod chip and hard drive.

Lately it does not work at all. When I start the PS2 it shows the Matrix screen first then go directly to PS2 Configuration and Browser menu screen, no games list anymore. I tried to go to Matrix config menu but no show.

Then I removed the Hard drive and connected it to my PC using hd enclosure. I checked it using WNHIIP and found the files have corrupted. Tried to repair but failed so I reformatted the hd and load game backups using WINHIIP. Returned it to the PS2 but the problem is the same.

Does the Matrix mod chip have problem too? Because I cannot access its config menu.

I want to load back the games, please I need some help on how to do this!

    Thanks a lot!

well since it was boot directly from hdd and you formatted the hdd then there is no boot.elf on hdd then you cannot run any elfs. the only is to get another PS2 Modified to make a Dev1 and boot it on your PS2 .but i dont know when you repaired did you click on Save or not .

Thank You for the reply. Yes I clicked save but it does not worked. And then I tried to backup the file using winhiip, it says it cannot read from disk.

    Ahh, ok. Thanks anyway!

I'm just curious, what elf files should be added to the hd and how the structure looks. I mean what and where(folders) to put the elf files.

The normal DEV2 boot structure as used by modchips for HDD booting is very simple.

There is a reserved APA partition named "__boot".
In that partition you store a program file named "boot.elf".
That elf file will get launched when booting with the chip set to use the DEV2 method.
And that is all there is to it.

But it is not possible to use PC software to set that up, since there is no PC software available which is compatible with the PFS file system used by Sony in APA partitions.
(There was one failed attempt to make such a program, but it just corrupted HDDs.)

    Best regards: dlanor
