mod chips
What are some good ones that you don't have to solder. I don't plan on sending my ps2 (new one)off and I REALLY dont' plan on taking this one apart. What are the swaping chips? IS that where you have to have a game shark? I dont' need all the fancy stuff the magic V does (thats what I had) just something to play backups

I suggest you do some reading. I would highly suggest a Non Swap chip over a Swap chip. But if thats what you fancy, you can go and buy yourself a Neo 2.2 for dirt cheap and install it, its * wires, you wont get any less than that. use the search function to read more, if there is even any more Neo 2.2 info on these forums Im not sure. But the amount saved is just not worth the trouble.

There's a No-Solder Mod...
You have to have either Swap Magic or Gameshark or such..
Though I definately wouldn't recommend getting a swap chip, you'd be better off with a no-swap.

i would get a no swap but I already messed up my first ps2 soldering it. No one around this hick town knows what soldering is and I am not comfortable sending my ps2 off in the mail to someone.

Find someone in your area, then.

xXx6182 i was nervous on shipping my ps2 out to but i heard about loy. he is a trust worthy guy that always keep in touch with you about your console. you wont be dissappointed either swap sucks but if you want a no solder go to http://www.ps2cover.com/index.html

But as I said above, you won't like the No-Solder mod, it forces you to swap every time, patch games, use an extra swap disc for specific games, some games don't work, etc.
You get what you pay for. :)

there's plenty of ps2 installers all over the place, a lot with dozens, and others HUNDREDS of reccomendations. what's uncomfortable about sending your ps2 to a person like that? someone who does 3 or 4 installs a day probably wont care enough to bother ripping you off for a couple bucks or your ps2, and risk having a customer giving them bad feedback about their business.
