depends dms3 has some extra features that messiah 2 doesn't have. but it is more expensiver than messiah 2. Some reports of dms3 is that some dms3 have been faulty. but messiah 2 never really had this problem

I would say messiah 2 is bulletproof and very stable chip. But the
DMS3 which is inside my Playstation 2 version 5 Ent modded is gr8
no problems so far and if you want to pay a bit more money for almost the same chip then why not go for DMS3 it got the future on it called Firmware but there is only paradox mp3 player and the
ps2realityplayer to put there at the moment, but I really like this option "to save to memory card" really kicks ass. But hey Messiah 2 is bulletproof chip and really rocks boot 110% everything! hehe!
But I went for DMS3 and I really like it, smooth like chinese ASS

PS2BackupWorld: lol. don't listen to some of them :P lol. the blackscreen only appears on certain ps2s due to power issues. if you find a good installer that has done them he'll know which solder joints to substitute where. once you get beyond that it its just as stable and reliable as the messiah2.. it just comes down to whether or not you wanna play a little extra for the extras . here are some:
region free dvd, macrovision disabled, boots exe apps from memory cards (will play divx, xvid, and mp3s), flashable (there has already been some updates but what this allows you to do is when new code comes out that enables more features unstead of having to buy another chip and having it installed.. all you have to do is download the update from dms3s site, burn it to cdr, and drop it in your ps2 and let it update), and it uses mega memory (like 16mb chips) and boots them directly (no disc needed).

    for more info check out:

Just incase buy your chip from a site that guarantees their chips and accepts returns like modchipman
    www.modchipman.com #modchipman efnet

    Good luck. hope this helped
