memory card slots quit working

Does anyone have any idea why slots would quit working all the sudden.

I put mc in slot and games won't load,take it out an game lots fine.
i even took network adapter and hd drive out still no luck.

Any ideas would be helpful if you have seen this trouble.

ps2 is version 4 no modchip.

also bought a new mc just to see if that was the trouble still no go.

yes penty of time lately since i sent it too sony for repair an they wouldn't fix it.

I dont want to look like a jerk but you could have posted this thread in the right area => PS2 General
This area is for subjects related to the PS2 HDD.

about your problem.. i think your memory card slot burned or is something disconnected inside of your ps2.
btw I Hope your ps2 get fixed

3rd party memory cards, 3rd party controllers, controller extensions, or any other non-sony stuff = will burn out your controller and/or MC ports..

the only non-sony stuff i will use on my PS2 is HDD's.

Humm I was thinking.. usb keyboards are all 3rd party so can it damage the USB slot? Can SmartJoy Frag (the accessory that makes possible to use ps2 keyboard+ ps2 mouse with FPS games "from liksang.com") damage it too or is only stuff that are too cheap ?

i'm not sure about all the usb stuff.. but the stuff that will go in the MC & controller ports can

Just another little piece of info for anyone who maybe able to think of why mc slots aren't working for ps2 games.

I found the kids ps1 mc and it works fine with psx games but nothing on the ps2 side works have 1 old mc an 1 new one neither are recognized by the ps2.

make sure the flat wire that goes into the controller/memcard peice is in perfectly, it has happend to me that it was not completely inserted, and the controllers/ps1 memcards worked, but not ps2 memcards. make sure it is inserted perfectly, then mabey tape it in place so it does not move when u screw it back in.
