So I have a ps3 pretty much only for playing ps1 backups.

I only jut heard about Mcboot on a PS2, can anyone clarify a few things for me.

basically all I want it for is PS1 and PS2 games to play off a HDD on a ps2 slim (much smaller and clutter free as my ps3 + PS2!)
is it as easy as it seems, get a mcboot memory card and thats it?

PS1 games don't work with free mc boot and the PS2 uses usb 1.1 so loading PS2 games from a USB hdd will result in stuttering video and extremely long load times making 90% of all games unplayable.

However, if you have the know how and the patience, plus maybe 20 or so Gigs of extra PC HHD space, you could load your ISO's over LAN.

Some games stutter during FMV's and the frame rate drops when a lot is happening on screen, but for the most part playing over a network is pretty smooth.

The only two other alternatives are loading from a PS2 HDD or burning ISO's to a disc after patching for ESR.
