Magic Ver. 3.0 –
01-09-2004,04:54 PM
I am replacing a magic v3.0 chip with a dms3 chip. i know that the magic v3.0 was buggy ( froze up a lot - main reason for the change ), but does anyone know if the chip can be flashed or something to upgrade it to 3.1 ( or newer ) to resolve the freezing? i would prefer not to use it as a paperweight on my desk and i know you can get them for $ 15.00 now, but i thought if i could flash it, i could at least give it to someone else that has a ps2.

You could give it to someone and install a switch to it which the end-user would flick once the game has booted up which will disable the chip and stop freezing, Magic 3.1 basically had it implemented that 90 secs. after boot, it would switch itself off.
Good luck.

i read that about the switch. i was trying to find some way around that so i would not have to have another switch on the ps2, but i guess that is always a option.
thanks for the reply.

No problem.
There is no way to flash the chip by the way.
